Panda Biotech and Oritain partners to create fully traceable hemp

Panda Biotech, an industrial hemp pioneer, and Oritain, a scientific traceability firm, have announced a partnership to produce the world’s first fully traceable hemp fiber, as the fashion industry continues to look for more sustainable options.

Panda Biotech will manufacture premium, textile-grade, cottonized natural hemp fiber for industrial and consumer applications in response to changing regulations in the United States, a global trend back to natural materials, and a larger demand for green alternatives to synthetics. The company’s first plant will open in Wichita Falls, Texas, in mid-2022.

This latest collaboration with Oritain will see the two businesses collaborate as formal partners to develop the world’s first scientifically traceable hemp fiber for the global textile industry, from field to garment.

Growing attention to the environmental and societal effect of clothes and the fashion industry as a whole has resulted in a revived interest in natural raw materials, which can help solve some of the industry’s sustainability issues. Hemp is a very flexible substance that consumes considerably less energy than other fibers and is totally biodegradable.
