Pakistan Single Country Exhibition 2016 kick off in Colombo

The Pakistan Single Country Exhibition 2016 was formally inaugurated yesterday afternoon at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan along with Sri Lankan Minister for Commerce and Industry Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister for Development Strategies and International Trade Mallik Samarawickrama, CEO TDAP S M Munir, Secretary TDAP Ms Rabia Javeri and High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Maj Gen (R) Syed Shakeel Hussain.

After inauguration, the Ministers visited the stalls displaying Pakistani products and appreciated the wide variety and quality of Pakistani products.
The event was attended by several important personalities from the Sri Lankan business and trade sectors along with Sri Lanka based diplomatic corps and a large number of people from different walks of life.
 
The Exhibition is expected to enhance trade links between the two nations to new heights.

On the occasion, Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have traditionally enjoyed excellent relations. They also need to strive to add more substance to their economic cooperation and benefit from each other’s’ strengths. One of the primary aims to organize the Pakistan Single Country Exhibition is to introduce the diverse goods and commodities being produced in Pakistan to the Sri Lankan consumers. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to explore the Pakistani market here in Sri Lanka. He further added that their Sri Lankan friends will take maximum benefit from this opportunity.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry Srilankan Lanka Rishad Bathiudeen emphasized the importance of closer business and trade links between the two friendly countries.

The Minister for Development Strategies and International Trade Mallik Samarawickrama, said that both countries should utilize the full potential of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries to achieve the trade target of US $ 1 Billion in near future.

The Chief Executive Officer TDAP Mr SM Munir appreciated the support and cooperation extended by the Government and people of Sri Lanka for organizing the exhibition in a befitting manner.

The Exhibition organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration of High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka is featuring leading Pakistani organizations and manufacturers of Textile & clothing, Designer Wear, , Handicraft and Traditional Textiles, Engineering Products, Auto Parts, Agro Products, Cosmetics and Herbal Products, Pharmaceuticals, Cutlery, Gems & Jewellery, Furniture, Carpets, Marble and Services.

The Exhibition aims to provide a platform to the Pakistan based companies, for showcasing their range of products and services to the Sri Lankan public and business community. The exhibition contributes to promote Pakistan – Sri Lanka economic relations by diversifying the existing trade patterns hence introducing a wide range of quality Pakistani products in the Sri Lankan market with prominent business and trade sectors.

The exhibition to carve out new business partnerships, strengthen the old ones and enhance trade and commerce between the two countries. The exhibition will remain open until 17th January 2016 for general public.
