Pakistan govt contemplating on setting up Wool Development Company

Pakistan government contemplating to establish a state-of-the-art Wool Development Company which will seek international collaboration from Australia and other developed countries for enhancing value added wool products, said Federal Minister for Food Security Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan Thursday while addressing a seminar on ‘world food day’ at National Textile University.

He said that this project will also serve as main-streaming of backward and neglected areas of Balochistan. The Wool Development Company will provide a game changer role for the province of Balochistan which has vast tracks for cattle farming.

The federal and provincial governments with active support of downer agencies will work to create much needed economic activities in backward areas of the countries.

The proposed company will also work to enhance conducive environment in these areas for development of wool industry on modern scientific lines.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Chief Minister of Balochistan welcoming the proposed wool development company project said that the government was making a qualitative improvement in the life of people living in remote areas of Balochistan and assured full support from the government for its formulation.

Miss Marjon Fredrix, Manager, International Project FAO, Ahmed J. Essa, Deputy Chief, National Project Coordinator FAO, Nasir Mughal, National Expert, Community Development, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali (NTU) and Muhammad Iqbal, Post Harvest Management Adviser AFO also spokes on the occasion.
