PAKA® launches innovative alpaca performance socks

PAKA®, a pioneer in alpaca fiber clothing, is thrilled to introduce its latest product, the Performance ¾ Crew Sock. Ever since their establishment in 2017, PAKA has been a trailblazer in athletic wear made from alpaca fibers. The Performance ¾ Crew Sock showcases their recent breakthrough, utilizing the finest alpaca yarn to craft an incredibly soft and highly durable multisport sock.

Alpaca fiber is a powerhouse in terms of performance, boasting natural properties like being odor resistant, moisture-wicking, and thermoregulating. Its remarkable moisture retention rate of just 8% (as opposed to wool’s 18%) keeps feet dry and comfortable, preventing moisture and friction buildup that can cause blisters. Moreover, alpaca fibers have a natural antibacterial protein, making it challenging for these socks to develop unpleasant odors.

Paka takes advantage of these inherent fiber features through thoughtful design. The Performance ¾ Crew Sock is meticulously crafted, incorporating a snug rib-knit design to prevent shifting and friction, a breathable mobility mesh to enhance ventilation where the ankle meets the foot, compressive arch support, and strategic extended heel padding for high-impact areas.

Kris Cody, PAKA Founder and CEO, emphasized their goal to design a versatile performance sock capable of withstanding intense biking, hiking, and backpacking. They focused on refining the yarn in Peru, achieving a finer thread count that knits into a high-compression rib. After numerous prototypes and tests, the Performance ¾ Crew Sock was perfected, meeting the needs of their community.

The Performance ¾ Crew Sock is available in various colors including Black, Charcoal, Blue, Walnut, Quail, and Forage, priced at $24.
