Onset of Italian textile technology training centre in India will open up new business doors for Indian market

The Italian textile technology training centre to start in India, it will open up new business opportunities for the Indian market. The agreement to set up training centre was signed about two year ago between the DKTE’S Textile & Engineering Institute in Ichalkaranji in the district of Kolhapur, Maharashtra and Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT).

The inauguration will take place this month, with ACIMIT’s President Raffaella Carabelli and Director Federico Pellegata in attendance. The project designed to provide the transfer of equipment on loan from Italian manufacturers for a maximum of three years, as well as training courses, includes the participation of three of ACIMIT’s associated members during this first stage: BIANCO, FADIS and SAVIO.

Coordinated by a workgroup formed by ACIMIT and an Indian counterpart, Rare Tech Projects, the project will be responsible for organising all on-site activities. The initiatives planned include a mission to Italy, scheduled for this coming November, consisting of DKTE’S professors and Indian textile operators with ties to the institution.

The technology training centre is part of the broader Machines Italia project financed by the Ministry for Economic Development (MiSE). The goal of the project in India is to support the internationalization of businesses in the sector in one of the globe’s most intensely developing economies.
With the technology training centre becoming operative, it will lay the foundations for future business opportunities in a market that is already important for the majority of Italian machinery manufacturers.

The Indian market ranks third as an export destination, with EUR 28 million worth of machinery exported during the first quarter of 2014. This initiative will provide a positive return in terms of image, not only for individual Italian businesses participating by supplying machinery, but for Italy’s textile machinery sector as a whole, said Carabelli.

During the inauguration of the Italian textile machinery training centre, three Indian students, whose researches on the textile machinery sector have been deemed prize-worthy by ACIMIT-DTKE’s jury, will be awarded.

This centre will be an important point of reference for the faculty and students, according to Prof Dr P.V. Kadole, Principal, DKTE.

The training centre will be the first bridge between Italy and India in the field of textile technologies/machines which will further bring awareness of Italian technologies to the textile industry in India.
