Nilit launched WaterCare technology that saves water and reduces pollution

Nilit, a nylon producer has launched a new Sensil Watercare system that offers water-conscious brands, retailers, and consumers a more sustainable choice to conserve water during production.

The new technology has been launched as a part of the brand’s comprehensive Planet Promise textile sustainability commitment. The Sensil WaterCare is pre-dyed to ensure that the fabric and apparel makers can save 100% water, energy and chemicals involved in the colouration process. The technology is also going to significantly reduce time, water treatment costs, and the risk of pollution to rivers, lakes, and oceans.

Ilan Melamed, the General Manager at Nilit, stated that protecting water is the foundation of life and it is a corporate mandate that they take seriously.  Ilan stated that their R&D efforts are focused on developing new Sensil products like WaterCare that support the industry’s sustainability goals and respond to growing consumer demands for textiles and apparel that are more responsibly made.

The system is a spin dying technology. The dyes used are environmentally responsible pigments such as charcoal and coffee bean shells, among others, offer sustainable colouration that reflects the natural world. The company stated that the colour is embedded in the yarn to ensure uniform colour depth and lustre that won’t wash out, even at high temperatures. They added that the Garments resist fading so they last longer, and dyes do not wash out in the laundry.

Bernardo Staiano, Nilit CTO, stated that Nilit’s Total Product Sustainability approach, Sensil WaterCare can make a significant impact when its many advantages are considered. He stated that the Sensil WaterCare could significantly shorten the product development cycle, improve productivity, and reduce the burden of sampling and returns. Sensil’s family of premium nylon products addresses resource conservation, pollution elimination, biodegradability, and recycled inputs to help advance textile industry sustainability
