Nayaab to display wonders of India textiles

Nayaab, an exhibition in pursuit of excellence in the textile crafts of India, curated by Rupa Sood and Sharan Apparao will highlight the edge of design and skill. Nayaab will attempt to move away from the watered down textile crafts and showcase the more difficult laborious, old, complicated traditional skills being produced by revivalists who are dedicated to the pursuit of these exceptional skills.

The event will see as many as 15 designers showcasing their signature collections which make use of Indian textiles. A collection of garments, fabrics and saris will be on display.

Jaya Jaitly will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday evening.

Exhibiting designers at the event will include Abdul Jabbar Khatri, Aneeth Arora-Pero, Darshan Shah of Weavers Studio; Anjali Kalia of Kora, Asif Sheikh, Sonal Sood and Anu Lalwani – En Inde, Gaurang Shah, Meera Kumar – Indian Textiles, Meera and Muzaffar Ali – Kotwara, Mona Lamba and Pali Sachdev of Monapali; Neeru Kumar – Tulsi, Swati Kalsi, Neha Puri Dhir, Raymond Manickshaw and Sanjay Garg of Raw Mango.

NAYAAB will not only showcase skills and special people who work with excellence in textile crafts but textile revivalists Suraiya Hassan and Jenny Housego will also be honoured for their lifetime contribution to the field, at the event, which will be held from December 11-13 at The Lodhi, New Delhi.
