Nature’s Clothesline exhibit hopes to encourage sustainability

An art exhibit termed ‘Nature’s Clothesline’ is all set to open in a couple of days at the Museum of Surrey.

The exhibit aims to express new levels of exciting creativity. The exhibit portrays the story of clothing consumption and the dramatic increase in textile waste worldwide.

The art piece shows Nature’s Clothesline introducing the idea of sustainable textiles through upcycled art, textile creations and objects about sustainability. The display features the works of six different textile artists, Roxanne Charles, Sola Fiedler, Barbara Heller, Sharon Kallis, Ruth Scheuing and Amy Walker. Each of the artists has adopted their own interpretations of sustainable textile art and has displayed it accordingly. Works from the members of the Peace Arch Weavers Society are also expected to exhibit items from Native Shoes and Trans-Continental Textiles.

The Museum of Surrey Manager Lynn Saffery stated the exhibit would tie together a group of incredibly talented textile artists with ideas the offered awareness, insight, and celebration.

All the exhibit pieces are correlated by the theme of nature and invite the audience to Re-think, Re-create, Respond, Recycle and Rejoice. Nature’s Clothesline will stay intact till February 2021 and official tours are available on the official website.
