National silk expo 2015 begins in Hyderabad

The National Silk Expo-2015 aimed at promoting and encouraging weavers and provide a market to the handloom industry began yesterday at the TTD Kalyan Mandapam at Himayath Nagar in Hyderabad city.

The exposition was inaugurated by Tollywood actress Mamatha Rahoot, Pancha mukhi movie fame. During the lauch of the expo Mamatha said that such platforms are required to reach out to women looking for well-designed handmade cotton wear and silk wear and exclusive home textile which blend different styles and concepts of silk handloom.

The organizer of the expo, Jayesh Kuma said that through these exhibitions, they have been able to create good market for the weavers and their handloom woven ware, even in places where exhibitions are not feasible. Another motive is that they want to eliminate middlemen. Exhibitions are a way pure silk and cotton products of the weavers reach directly to the costumer.

The expo will showcase the works of 70 designers and artisans from 14 handloom weaving states.

The exhibition offers a great variety to the customers from gorgeous Uppadas, Banaras silks, Gadwals, Dharmavaram, Jamdanis, Jamawars and Sambalpuris to dress materials, silk and cotton sarees, accessories, home furnishing and also designer clothes all under one roof.

The 10 days expo which will conclude on March 23, it is Open from 11 am to 9 pm.
