Nassimi
Nassimi, an upholstery textile and faux leather manufacturer, has been tracking its initiatives which focus on sustainability since 2015. Now, the company is ready to publish and make its report public.
The report takes into consideration the company’s actions across environmental and social responsibility. The company also works on sustainable material innovations and uses processes that provide a lower carbon footprint.
Iwan Nassimi, Executive Vice President at Nassimi said, “We started collecting data several years ago, and at this point in time the data has become meaningful and demonstrates trends. We decided to publicly share our sustainability metrics now because we believe in transparency and accountability.”
The company also commits to eliminate PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from its products by 2024. These are called ‘forever chemicals’, which imbue textiles with stain and water resistance. To facilitate this, Nassimi started Supreen in 2020. The textile includes silicone, polyester and polyurethane and has a woven look.
Nassimi said, “Achieving sustainability goals requires active collaboration with our supply and manufacturing partners, as well as with customers. We hold our partners to a high standard and foster open communication, knowledge sharing and joint problem-solving to drive sustainable solutions throughout the supply chain.”
The report also covers Nassimi’s past achievements over the last two decades. It started with its launch of a PVC-free faux leather in 2000. The company also removed the use of phthalates from its PVC in 2013 and subsequently, it also removed antimicrobial, antibacterial and flame-retardant chemicals from its product ranges.
