M&S renews Hirestreet partnership with launch of new spring rental collection

British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S), has released its second rental collection with Hirestreet, marking the biggest ever retailer collaboration for the UK’s leading accessible fashion rental platform.

For the first time, M&S Collection is included in the collection, which includes 40 new season womenswear pieces from M&S’s in-house labels, Autograph and Per Una, as well as M&S Collection. It lands on Hirestreet just in time for Easter, with products starting at £10 for a four-day rental.

The spring/summer collection, which debuted in November 2021, builds on the success of the autumn/winter offering, which saw 98% of buyers say they would rent M&S apparel from the platform again.

In addition, 95% of Hirestreet consumers felt M&S’s products were of high quality, and over 90% indicated they would consider purchasing from the retailer in the near future. M&S has proven to be the most popular brand for a ‘bundle,’ with M&S products accounting for a quarter of all bundle rental orders on Hirestreet.

M&S’ commitment to driving the circular economy is bolstered by its ongoing engagement with Hirestreet, which is part of its Plan A goal of becoming a Scope 3 net-zero firm by 2040.

Richard Price, MD of Clothing & Home at M&S, said that at M&S, their aim is ensuring their product is more relevant, more often for their customers’ lives – that’s not just what they offer, but how. They recognize that clients are becoming more interested in the circular economy and renting, which is why we began their exciting collaboration with Hirestreet last year.

Price added that so far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with Hirestreet consumers finding the everyday style and value of their items on the marketplace. This spring/summer, they’re continuing to test and learn with a new collection that’s ideal for a variety of situations, including the holidays and special events that they know consumers are looking forward to.

Rosie Hartman, Strategy Lead at Hirestreet, said that they’re happy to extend their partnership with M&S, with the launch of the spring collection making this their largest-ever retailer collaboration. M&S items have proven popular on Hirestreet from their introduction, thanks to their reputation for trendy and high-quality clothes. Clothing rental is traditionally linked with special occasions, but the popularity of M&S garments, many of which are versatile for any occasion, indicates how the future of fashion rental is evolving since today’s fashion rental is more than just providing temporary access to premium things.

Shoppers may continue to hire best-selling designs from the initial collection drop, such as the M&S X Ghost satin midi wrap dress, which has been rented over 30 times and is the most popular M&S item on Hirestreet.

New product categories in the spring/summer offer include pants and jackets, such as a cotton-rich belted utility jacket that retails for £55 and can be rented for £11.
