Montane adopts AF+D’s innovative ExpeDRY technology

ALLIED Feather + Down (AF+D), a leader in high-performance, ethically sourced, and recycled down insulation, is set to supply Montane with its revolutionary ExpeDRY ultra dry down for Montane’s Fall 2025 collection. This marks a significant step in performance down technology, focusing on sustainability and efficiency.

ExpeDRY is a groundbreaking innovation that replaces traditional chemical treatments with gold particles permanently bonded to down clusters. This unique technology prevents water vapor from condensing into droplets, offering superior real-world performance compared to conventional water-resistant (WR) down treatments. ExpeDRY ensures that down stays drier for longer and dries faster when wet, improving energy efficiency during home laundry and reducing long-term environmental impact.

Montane, known for its focus on high-performance outdoor gear, will be the first brand to incorporate ExpeDRY in 100% of its down jackets. This move aligns with Montane’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for enhanced performance and sustainability in extreme conditions.

The development of ExpeDRY was made possible through a collaboration with FUZE Technologies, utilizing gold particles to create a permanent and chemical-free treatment. This innovative approach provides a cleaner, more effective solution compared to current WR technologies, which often rely on chemical coatings. ExpeDRY sets a new standard for the industry, offering an eco-friendly and efficient alternative for down insulation.
