Mohawk’s launches carpet with Asthma & Allergy Friendly Certification

Mohawk Flooring has announced that its SmartStrand carpet collection has become the first treated carpet product to receive the Asthma & Allergy Friendly Certification, using a new built-in technology designed to help reduce common indoor allergens.

The certification was achieved through the introduction of Pur-Ease, an innovative technology that incorporates natural probiotics directly into the carpet. The technology is designed to help reduce allergens commonly found in homes, including pet dander, pollen, and dust mite allergens.

The addition of Pur-Ease further strengthens the SmartStrand product range, which has been known for its softness, durability, and ease of maintenance for more than two decades. With the new technology, the carpet now offers an additional benefit by helping create a healthier indoor environment.

The Asthma & Allergy Friendly Certification is an independent, science-based certification programme that evaluates products against strict standards related to allergen reduction and indoor air quality.

The certification confirms through scientific testing that carpets treated with Pur-Ease can significantly reduce exposure to common household allergens and irritants, making them more suitable for individuals affected by asthma and allergies.
