Manufacturer of technical textile fibers plans to invest approximately $19.8 million

Firestone’s Kings Mountain facility has manufactured tire cord and similar products. Firestone Fibers & Textiles has ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 registered plants located in Kings Mountain and Gastonia in North Carolina, as well as Woodstock, Ontario since 1992.

Robert Browne, Chairman of the Gaston County Economic Development Commission said that, “It was a true team effort on the part of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, the Kings Mountain City Council and the staff of the Economic Development Commission to bring this project to fruition.”

Chairman of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, Chad Brown, said that, “This plant expansion is great news for Kings Mountain and Gaston County.” He quoted that, “It is always gratifying when one of our community’s oldest operating industrial firms – Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company continues to grow.”

Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler said that, “This expansion of Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company is wonderful.” He added that, “The Kings Mountain City Council is committed to maintaining a welcoming environment for industry. This internationally recognized brand helps our efforts to recruit additional businesses to our city. Growth of an existing company is a testament to the economic health of the local community and to the ease of having operations in that community. The manufacturer of technical textile fibers plans to invest approximately $19.8 million in the plant expansion and new machinery and equipment, and create at least 25 new jobs in Gaston County.

Firestone Fibers & Textiles Company is expanding its 483,916-square-foot North American headquarters and advanced manufacturing plant in Kings Mountain, NC by 110,000 square feet.
