Lycra showcases recycled polyester and bio-based fibers

The Lycra Company is showcasing Coolmax CloakFX, a polyester fibre designed to reduce the visible appearance of sweat marks, at Performance Days in Munich on October 13–14, 2026. The technology uses optical masking at the fibre level to diffuse light, helping fabrics appear drier during exercise and everyday wear.

Now made from 100% recycled polyester and certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), CloakFX has been selected for the exhibition’s Innovation Forum. Turkish textile manufacturer Ekoten will demonstrate its application in commercially developed fabrics and garments. The technology aims to complement moisture management by addressing the visibility of perspiration on sportswear.

Lycra is also presenting Set the Pace, a collaboration with Italian textile manufacturer Brugnoli and cycling apparel brand Pissei. The project features technical cycling apparel containing up to 89% bio-based materials.

Its fabrics combine Brugnoli’s patented Br4 technology and bio-based polyamide with Renewable Lycra elastane containing 70% plant-based content. The collaboration explores how renewable raw materials can be incorporated into stretch fabrics while meeting the performance requirements of technical cycling apparel.
