KVIV receives largest khadi fabric order worth Rs 2 cr from Raymond

Textile conglomerate Raymond has place largest bulk order worth over Rs2 crores with the the Khadi and Village Industries Commission ( KVIC) for the supply of 98000 metres of khadi fabric. This is a major boost for Khadi.

Of the total 98000 meters of fabric, 32000 meters will be supplied by the end of this month and the rest by May end.

KVIC Chairman VK Saxena, confirming receipt of the order said that it is the largest ever order received by KVIC from any corporate giant. Khadi is heralding the entry of corporate and private sector giants into marketing of Khadi fabric and thus providing sustainable employment and livelihood support to the artisans.

Raymond CEO Sanjay Behl said that this order comes after an agreement was signed between Raymond Ltd and KVIC in December 2016. As per the agreement Raymond will procure minimum of Rs 2.50 crore worth fabric every year.

After joint visits, Raymond has selected various clusters from Gujarat, Rajasthan and other places to procure grey and finished Khadi fabric .

Raymond will be providing design inputs to create high end designer wears using Khadi fabric.

Earlier in the months of January and February, Raymond took more than 6000 meters of various different fabrics from KVIC for testing and sampling..
