Kornit Digital announces their ESG goals

The global leader in digital textile production technology, Kornit Digital Ltd published its 2020 Impact and Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) Report. Kornit’s commitment to reaching specified ESG goals is reaffirmed in this inaugural report.

The report includes how Kornit conducts business, makes a positive impact in local communities, and achieves environmental sustainability, as well as how Kornit will continue to foster diverse and inclusive company culture, encourage employee growth and development, and promote fair and safe labor practices around the world.

Ronen Samuel, Kornit Digital’s Chief Executive Officer, said that their vision is to aggressively revolutionize the world of fashion and textiles for a better, more sustainable planet. This report acts as a road map for them to achieve their goals. Unfortunately, the fashion sector is responsible for tremendous ecological damage, producing roughly 20% of global wastewater each year and over-producing an average of 30% as part of its ‘normal’ course of business. They’re dead set on altering that course. Every day at Kornit, sustainability is top of mind, both in their minds and in their actions.

Kornit technology solutions offer sustainable manufacturing on-demand, which prevents overproduction of garments and other textile goods, in addition to enabling eco-friendly production processes with technology and consumables that use less water, decrease waste, and limit the carbon footprint. Kornit’s digital production systems used up to 95% less water and 94% less energy than traditional analog processes, and produced up to 83% less greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the Presto S system, and up to 93% less water and 66% less GHG emissions for the Atlas MAX system, according to a 2021 Life Cycle Assessment.

According to the report, Kornit Digital’s sustainable on-demand solutions will enable the responsible manufacture of about 2.5 billion garment items by 2026, based on past sustainability performance results and strategic estimates for business growth and market expansion.

Kornit will assist eliminate the estimated 1.1 billion garment items overproduced using traditional production methods, based on an industry average of 30% overproduction, by transitioning the industry to on-demand manufacturing. This is approximately one piece of clothing for each and every individual in Europe and North America – saved.

Kornit-enabled production on demand will save an estimated 4.3 trillion liters (1.1 trillion gallons) of water in addition to eliminating overstocks. This is the expected amount of drinking water required for the total population of the United States for the next 11 years.

Kornit will avoid 17.2 billion kilos (37.9 billion pounds) of greenhouse gas emissions by enabling sustainable on-demand production, requiring less energy, and generating less waste, compared to traditional manufacturing processes. This is the equivalent of approximately 2,400 times the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by driving around the world in a car.

The report also details Kornit’s commitment to meeting KPIs related to waste, chemicals, greenhouse gas emissions, energy, product development, employee training, diversity and inclusion, and the company’s supply chain.

Mr. Samuel added that while they’re pleased with their progress toward their goal of becoming a technology leader for environmental, social, and responsible corporate citizenship, and enabling the global fashion industry to expand its creative possibilities while reducing its environmental footprint, they recognize that there is still more work to be done. This report keeps us responsible for their aim of providing on-demand capabilities that are efficient, conscientious, and uncompromising for their stakeholders, workers, customers, and the global marketplace demand. These KPIs reflect Kornit’s basic principles, which are integrated into every area of their organization.
