Joint Venture between Adient and Arvind for automotive fabrics

The joint venture between Adient and Arvind will intensify the fabrics portfolio of products for Adient along with increasing market presence for the AMD at Arvind. Adient is a US based foremost automotive seating company, for making automotive fabrics. To supply global and indian automobile makers with solutions in high-end performance fabrics for seating systems is the focus of the new Adient Arvind Automotive Fabrics in the city.

Advanced material division (AMD) has vigorous investment by Arvind. Adient expects the JV to be included in its consolidated financial statements, as the majority stakeholder in the new company with a 50.5 per cent share.

The aim was to accelerate their manufacturing of innovative automotive fabrics by combining Arvind’s manufacturing capabilities in India with their global design and technological resources as quoted by vice-president of global fabrics at Adient Mr.Jeff Vercammen. Punit Lalbhai, executive director at Arvind said that,”One of our key pillars is to extend textile manufacturing into newer frontiers outside of fashion and into various spaces like human protection, construction and transport. The partnership will leverage Adient’s market presence and automotive expertise with Arvind’s textile manufacturing capabilities.”

High-end performance fabrics for automotive seating systems will be manufactured by Adient Arvind Automotive Fabrics based out of Ahmedabad. Arvind and Adient will each have representation on its board of directors.

Through this collaboration Adient will gain a strong position from which to serve our Indian and global customers and ultimately offer more value to consumers in India as quoted by , Adient India’s director and country manager Mr. Murali Rajagopalan.
