Jhartex, textile handloom and handicraft fair to draw investments in the sector

Jhartex, a four day textile handloom and handicraft fair will be hosted in the state capital by the state industries department and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to draw investments in the sector.

Through the fair, the department will showcase the talent poll of the state’s artisans and make an attempt to rope in the latest technology in products, fibre and fashions and possible investments through join ventures and strategic alliances.

Jhartext is a comprehensive business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) conference trade fair cum conference on handloom, handicraft and textile, said state industries director K Ravikumar while briefing media personnel about the program at Suchana Bhavan on Tuesday.

The fair will come as an exposure to the state’s artisans and will probably create large scale employment opportunities, said AT Mishra, director of Jharcraft and special industry secretary. The four day fair will have over 120 stalls and will host participants from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, West Bengal, Haryana, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Maharastra. As many as 20 artisans are expected to put up their work for display in the area of textile, handloom and handicraft.

Handloom and textile sector continues to be the priority sectors of the state government after food processing. Notably, Deoghar, Godda and Hazaribag are the hotspots of handloom industry in the state.

The four day fair will be inaugurated by chief minister Raghubar Das to begin from Wednesday at the Morhabadi ground in Ranchi.
