Isko introduces a new line of Selvedge Denim fabrics

Turkish denim manufacturer, Isko has launched a new Selvedge range. The new collection of fabrics from Isko, blends the heritage aesthetic of selvedge denim with the versatility and environmentally sustainable practices of modern denim.

Isko, the makers of jeggings, put their performance experience to work on the new selvedge collection, which includes 19 different fabric options ranging in elasticity and weight from 7.75 oz. to 14.5 oz.

The fabrics are available in a range of Italian-inspired fashion and Japanese-inspired retro washes that replicate selvedge signature “worn” looks for men’s and women’s collections. The new collection of fabrics blends traditional selvedge with the stretch and sustainability of modern denim.

The collection’s authentic rigid offering includes ten fabrics that keep the raw look of selvedge denim, while the six “comfort stretch” options provide a softer, more versatile take on the classic, with 13-29 % flexibility. The remaining “high-stretch” options in the series are also more supple, with elasticity ranging from 40-52%.

The R-Two platform, which uses a combination of reclaimed cotton from Isko’s own production loss and recycled polyester extracted from PET bottles, is responsible for the fabric line. Depending on the percentage of recycled materials in the fabric, it can be certified under the Recycled Claim Standard (RSC) or the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). Since the fabric comes on a 32-inch roll rather than the 62-inch norm, selvedge denim is also expensive.
