A three day international textiles, weaving machinery and accessories expo to be held from July 10 at Texvalley in nearby Chitode. The event is organized by Weave Tex Tech, a consultative agency in the industry.
Weave Tex Tech Chairman M A Rayappan said that the expo would have 60 stalls featuring latest machineries with modern technologies which would be placed for view and sales.
Currently, there are about 1.54 lakh powerlooms functioning in Erode, Komarapalayam, Tiruchengodu and other places in the region. The major powerloom cluster in the district is at Vellakoil in Kangayam Taluk and the expo would be displaying the latest state-of-the-art machineries, the Vice-Chairman of Texvalley, U.R.C. Devarajan said.
Erode district is one of the most industrialized in the state of Tamilnadu. Industry and Trade occupy a place of prominence in the economy of the District. Textile industry is the oldest and one of the biggest industries in the district which provides large scale employment and is a source of foreign exchange earner.
Textile industry has developed in all the three segments namely mill sector, handloom and powerloom in this district.
