An anti-dumping duty of Rs. 1,54,732 per lakh needles has been imposed by the department of revenue. This anti-dumping duty would be valid for a period of five years.
ltek Beissel Ltd had filed the petition seeking a sunset review investigation on ‘sewing machine needle’ imports from China.
Sewing machine needles considered for the present investigation include those meant for both household and industrial purposes. A sewing machine needle is fitted into a sewing machine and used for sewing a number of products.
There are variety of applications of needles such as furnishings, doll making, book sewing, vehicle seat covers, etc. Sewing machine needles are widely used in the textiles and apparel sector for sewing of woven arguments, knit garments and embroidery among others.
