Hunting hall presents new organic wool for this festive season

Christmas having arrived , it was the most revolutionary attempt of Karen and Tom Burn of Hunting Hall to set out on the venture after finding that a lot of organic wool ends up muddled in with non-organic.

Karen, who hand spins and knits, knew how difficult it was to find an organic knitting wool in the shops and wanted to promote local organic wool.

But with the assistance of a grant from Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership, the wool project turned out to be a huge success.

The Hunting Hall’s Pure Northumbrian Organic Wool is from the wildlife-friendly farm, near Holy Island. In fact it was derived from the farm’s own small organic sheep flock.

Earlier this year their finest fleeces were handpicked and sent to a small family-run mill where the wool was spun to double knitting and Arran weight and dyed to five rich colours.

Local knitters have helped the farm develop patterns for small items to be knit in the farm’s new wool, and the unique designs are now available on the farm’s new website – www.northumbrianorgan icwool.co.uk

She said that after a lot of research they had managed to put together a project to create the farm’s own yarn.

It is an award-winning special organic knitting yarn launched by the Hunting Hall Farm for the festive season.
