H&M
The big-box retailer H&M are reinforcing their commitment to sustainable colocation services in a multi-year agreement with Swedish operator EcoDataCentre. The deal is being marked by EcoDataCentre as an important step in the fashion retailer’s push to embrace a heavier ‘climate smart data management’ strategy.
The agreement covers the datacenter needs for Northern Europe. EcoDataCentre stated that H&M have well established high set sustainability goals and by choosing EcoDataCenter as a supplier an important step has been taken towards a sustainable and circular business.
H&M had recently declared it would become a climate positive organisation by 2040. They are in deep belief to embark on an initiative that will actively remove additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Magnus Angermund, the chief marketing officer at EcoDataCenter, stated that the group was fantastic to gain the trust of a large and sustainably focused player as H&M marking an important step for the company. He further adds that they are pleased and proud to dedicate themselves to facilitate their digitization by attaining high set demands on accessibility as well as contributing to the H&M group’s strong focus on suitability.
Eco DataCenters flagship facility in Falun, Sweden, is recognized for being the world’s first ‘climate-positive’ datacenter, where the excessive heat is also reused to warm buildings in the locality. Lars Schedin, the CEO of EcoDataCenter, claimed that sustainability was becoming an increasingly important business driver for organizations across various industries and has informed the IT choices they have made.
EcoDataCentre stated that they see a clear trend as more and more organizations start to realise the extent of the environmental impact that IT actually has. They added that this knowledge makes them value real and have proven sustainable in the choice of datacenter services.
