H&M launches its most recycled denim collection to date

Sweden-based fashion giant, H&M‘s commitment to sustainability continues to grow as the brand has launched its most recycled denim collection yet. The ten-piece collection inspired by the 1990s includes baggy jeans, loose straight-leg jeans, a trucker jacket, and an oversized overshirt, as well as a bucket hat and shopper.

The products are created entirely of recycled fabrics, threads, labels, and pocketing, with recycled metal zippers and trimmings thrown in for good measure. H&M’s washing method is low-impact on the environment and is free of hazardous chemicals.

The new collection was created to help H&M emphasize the adaptability of recycled denim by focusing on patchwork elements and ‘90s denim colors, such as vintage light blue, normcore mid-blues, dark vintage blues, vintage blacks, and cool grey.

Each outfit is crafted from 100 percent recycled fabrics, including pre-consumer recycled cotton from industrial waste cuts and post-consumer recycled cotton from collected clothes, some with recycled polyester, and accessories made entirely of fabrics trimmed and re-used from manufacturing rejects.

This is the next step in H&M’s attempts to transition to a more circular manufacturing system. The H&M Recycled Denim collection will be available in stores on September 9th, as well as online at hm.com.
