H&M expands sportswear range with new running collection

H&M introduced its latest running collection on March 19 during a global event held in Barcelona. The new menswear and womenswear line strengthens the brand’s focus on the growing sportswear category.

The event, named “H&M Moves Barcelona,” took place at Los Tinglados in the La Barceloneta area of the city’s port. The day was divided into two parts. In the morning, there was a presentation for media and industry professionals and in the afternoon, the brand hosted a large 5K run in partnership with well-known local running groups.

During the morning session, key team members including Marie Fredros and Robin Wrangel shared insights about the design and development of the collection. This was followed by a panel discussion titled “Running Shapes Culture.” Experts from different fields discussed how running is becoming a part of lifestyle and culture, especially through the rise of running clubs.

One of the standout features of the collection is its colour palette. Instead of using bright neon shades commonly seen in running gear, the brand has chosen softer tones. The womenswear includes shades like dusty pink, light blue, and pale yellow, while the menswear focuses on neutral colours such as white, black, grey, and muted green. Reflective elements have been added to ensure safety during low-light conditions. The designs also include practical features like pockets for phones, straps to hold clothing during runs, and perforations for attaching race numbers.

The collection offers a range of technical products including shorts, tops, sports bras, lightweight jackets, and accessories suited for different running conditions. The aim was to keep the designs simple while ensuring they are both functional and stylish.
