Graniteville Specialty Fabrics launches sustainable finishing technology

Graniteville Specialty Fabrics has raised the bar by adopting a new approach to fabric finishing, challenging the traditional pad finishing process. By leveraging Baldwin Technology’s cost-effective and highly eco-friendly spray finishing technology, the company has improved production efficiency while reducing chemical and water waste.

The installation of Baldwin’s TexCoat™ G4 is part of a significant facility upgrade aimed at maximizing production efficiency and capacity to meet the growing demand for advanced engineered products.

The TexCoat G4 system offers extensive sustainability benefits, precise tracking and process control, and seamless integration with Industry 4.0 standards. By utilizing non-contact precision-spray technology, the TexCoat G4 ensures accurate fabric finishing with minimal chemistry waste and reduced water and energy consumption. This results in enhanced productivity and reduced downtime during changeovers.

Rick Stanford, Baldwin’s vice president of Global Business Development, Textiles, expressed satisfaction with the partnership with Graniteville Specialty Fabrics. The implementation of the TexCoat G4 aligns with the company’s goal of minimizing waste and boosting productivity.

Doug Johnson, Graniteville Specialty Fabrics’ executive vice president of Development and Technical Services, emphasized the importance of increasing productivity and sustainability without compromising fabric quality. After conducting thorough trials and tests, the company found that the TexCoat G4 exceeded expectations, delivering impressive fabric performance while enhancing sustainability.
