Giorgio Armani to ban angora wool as part of fur-free policy

Italian luxury fashion giant, the Armani Group, announced that from the Fall/Winter 2022/2023 season onwards, it will no longer use angora wool across all lines. The material has been added to the list of prohibited materials in the Group’s fur-free policy, which went into effect in 2016 after an agreement with the Fur Free Alliance.

CEO Giorgio Armani, said that he is thrilled to announce the removal of angora wool from all Armani Group lines, demonstrating their tangible commitment to closely monitoring their manufacturing in order to conserve the natural environment He has always believed in innovation and exploration of new materials and novel methods for processing existing raw materials.

The Armani Group’s recent pledge is yet another step toward environmental and animal sustainability throughout the production chain. The Group has been taking steps for some time to guarantee that the value created by expansion aspirations is compatible with the local area and communities. The ongoing monitoring of the supply chain, with a subsequent effort to adopt and apply sustainable practices, is one of the most critical actions taken.

The Armani Group has also collaborated with international working groups on the adoption of all steps aimed at gradually reducing potentially dangerous chemicals. In addition to signing the Fashion Pact, which was proposed at the G7 in 2019 to address climate change and environmental protection, the Group announced its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in July, which were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.
