Frugi launches circular clothing collection ‘Recycle Me’

Organic children’s wear brand, Frugi, has launched a new collection focusing on circularity with a range of items made to be recycled after use. Just over a year ago, Frugi partnered with the Circular Textiles Foundation to create the platform’s first children’s brand. Since then, the clothing company has been collaborating closely with them to improve the design, development, and manufacturing processes that are integrated with important circular principles into this line.

The collection, known as Frugi’s Recycle Me range, bears the “Infinitee” label from the Circular Textiles Foundation, which attests to the items’ recyclable status. Additionally, it represents the organization’s sincere accountability and transparency.

The idea of recycling clothing back into clothing is noted to be a first in the childrenswear industry. When a garment has reached the end of its useful life, unlike typical garment recycling, which frequently involves reuse or downcycling as the garments are shredded into pieces for padding and fillings, they do not wind up in landfills or incinerators. Instead, they are shipped to a specific recycling plant, where they will be converted into new yarns for recycling through the Circular Textiles Foundation. The waste, requirement for virgin materials, and CO2 emissions can all be reduced by using these yarns to create new clothes.

Padouki Fielding, head of brand partnerships for the Circular Textiles Foundation, said that it’s been fantastic working with the team at Frugi to support them in establishing their first truly sustainable clothing line that is certified as recyclable. This is revolutionary. They have raised the bar for childrenswear by demonstrating how circular ideas may be incorporated into a clothing brand. Each piece of Frugi clothing will have a QR code that can be scanned to obtain information about how customers can return and recycle their clothing after it has been worn out, patched up, and handed on.

Jeni Bolton, product and brand director of Frugi, said that their design objective is to make beautiful things that inspire delight, enable play, and withstand the wildest adventures. They are beginning to design with an end-of-life solution in mind now that they are collaborating with the Circular Textiles Foundation. They are quite proud of what their innovative circular collection has accomplished. Since children don’t need additional clothing, they aim to influence the next generation by being conscious of their clothing choices and their environmental impact.

They require more trees to climb, cleaner air to breathe, and clearer water to swim in. On February 15, Frugi will introduce its brand-new Recycle Me line as part of its primary Spring 2023 collection. This line will include looks and patterns inspired by their City to Seaside seasonal concept.
