Fashion for Good
Fashion for Good has chosen ten new innovators for the third round of its South Asia Innovation Programme. This group comprises innovators from eight different countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Fashion for Good’s regional program moves further into the Southeast Asian market with this cohort, solidifying the platform’s reach and shining a spotlight on regional developments.
The latest batch contains promising material solutions such as mycelium-based leather alternatives and biopolymerization processes using locally sourced feedstocks such as jute and cassava, which are abundant and have the ability to be viable alternatives to plastic. Such game-changing advances include inks made from greenhouse gas pollution, dyeing and finishing innovations, tea waste dyes, screening technologies, and wastewater treatment.
Managing Director of Fashion for Good, Katrin Ley said that they picked innovators from several cutting-edge technologies and from three new countries after five months of intensive scouting and screening, further expanding their presence in the Southeast Asia region. They’re excited to collaborate with their global network of collaborators to help this community of innovators scale their ideas and accelerate the transformation of the apparel supply chain.
Throughout the nine-month program, Fashion for Good will provide individualized guidance to the innovators. They will collaborate closely with Fashion for Good’s network of global collaborators on pilot projects and deployment events, building their journey to scale their innovations within the supply chain, in addition to evaluating the effectiveness of their solutions on the apparel industry.
The South Asia Innovation Programme, which began just over a year ago in January 2020, has already made substantial progress in the area, including nine regional and global business partners and piloting and implementing initiatives in the region with the first two batches of innovators and influential brands and manufacturers. The third batch’s prospects are similarly upbeat.
Aquaporin (Denmark), Chlorohemp Agrotech (India), Demeta (France), Deven Supercriticals (India), Graviky Labs (India), GreenHope (Singapore), MYCL (Indonesia), Quantum Polychemics (Bangladesh), t-hues (Sri Lanka), and Wise Eye (India) are among the third group of innovators to join the South Asia Innovation Programme (Hongkong).
