Extension of mandatory packing norm brings positive energy in jute sector

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently approved the extension norm for mandatory packaging to be done in Jute Material, Under the mandatory packing norm, 90 percent of food grains and over 20 percent of sugar products are to be packed in jute.

This move is being seen as a welcoming step by the industries involved in Jute business, Indian Jute Mills Association President Manish Poddar said, as the extension is certainly a positive decision for the jute manufacturing units.

The extension of the mandatory norm for the upcoming jute season that extends from July to June has brought positive energy in the sector.

He further informed that his associations, along with different stakeholders have been engaged in a dialogue with the government and the extension has come as a result of continuous engagement.
