Optical Motion
Italian textile producer Eurojersey and Portuguese apparel manufacturer Petratex have collaborated on Optical Motion, a cycling capsule that combines fabric research with garment engineering under the concept “Engineered Together.” The project integrates material selection, fit, construction and technology from the earliest stages of development.
The companies aim to demonstrate a collaborative model that could evolve into a broader service supporting apparel brands from performance planning to finished-product development. The capsule uses different textile structures according to body mapping and activity needs, with mesh panels designed to improve ventilation, structured surfaces intended to support aerodynamics, and high-density fabrics providing stability and support.
The development process moves from performance research and fabric selection to garment design, 3D prototyping, testing, validation and industrial production. Petratex also uses digital pattern refinement and CLO zFab Kit technology to digitise fabrics for 3D garment simulations.
The collection’s visual identity draws on Op Art, combining contrasting surfaces, three-dimensional textures and reflective elements to communicate movement. Campaign images feature close-fitting cycling jerseys with yellow-green graphics and blue-and-white patterns, alongside detailed fabric panels and garment construction.
