Australian government delegation visited China to intensify relationship between Australian and Chinese wool industries, supported by Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), the owner of The Woolmark Company.
Australa exports over 75 percent of its wool clip to China for processing. Earlier, the substantial quantity of this wool was processed and re-exported. But today, about a third of this wool stays within the Chinese market as the Chinese consumers and textile companies are getting well informed on the fibre’s intrinsic natural benefits.
Australian sees huge potential to increase wool consumption among the rapidly growing middle class in China.
The China Wool Textile Association (CWTA) alongwith The Woolmark company is consistently working o support Chinese woollen textile companies. They jointly have made significant contributions in product development, technology and improve product quality.
They intent to also provide ongoing technical and marketing support to many Chinese companies wanting to develop woollen fabrics, woollen garments and woollen products into the international and Chinese market.
CWTA are keen on developing close working relationship with The Woolmark Company as they can together bring the benefits of Australian Merino wool to Chinese companies, to Chinese consumers and to global markets. As many leading Chinese textile companies are making use of large quantity Australian Merino wool in their production.
As part of an AWI strategy to boost and support the Australian wool industry with the trade mission, extends its marketing efforts into China.
