Fibre Conversion Inc., of Broadalbin, NY has collaborated with ECOTEK 360 Inc. owned by Global Fiber Technologies to enroll the commercial viability of ECOTEK 360’s rejuvenation technology.
Chris Giordano, The President and Chairman of Global Fiber Technologies states that the company is now confident to initiate the production of repurposed products from “end of life fabrics” that are either disposed into landfills or end up in incinerators. The company has received positive results from its R&D tests which are said to be a patent-pending process.
ECOTEK 360, Inc’s collaboration with Fibre Conversion facilitates the company to test how the process of rejuvenating textile fibers work on a large commercial grade machine in comparison to the experimental line at the facility in Somerset NJ. Fibre Conversion has provided two commercial-grade recycling lines and a full machine shop that aids immediate testing of commercial viability.
The foundations of Fiber Conversion have deep expertise in recycling that dates back almost 100 years. This collaboration has proven to be a boon for both the parties as the results obtained in-house has proven to be promising. In order to increase efficiency, cut costs, gain knowledge of the process, and step closer to the goal of developing large-scale commercial projects unitedly, ECOTEK 360, Inc will be moving its sample line to Fibre Conversion facility.
The market size of the corporate workwear industry is at $8 billion and rapidly growing. Commencing a “circular economy” is ECOTEK 360’s goal. They mainly focus on the public sector, the hospitality industry, and corporate America for landfill destined corporate uniforms and end of life textile products. Taken aback by the volume of textiles that are landfilled yearly the company aspires to contribute towards reverting a portion of that waste into repurposed products. Achieving even a small portion of the reverting will have a significant effect not only on the environment but on the company as well.
