The construction process of the Khadi Park in Dumka would start soon as tenders for the construction of the Khadi Park will be invited within a month and construction will begin right after selecting the contractor, said Sanjay Seth, the newly appointed chairman of the state Khadi board on Wednesday.
There is a large scale potential of employment generation in Khadi particularly in santhal pargana, which is distinct for producing silk cocoons of international standard, said Seth, who visited the proposed site of the Khadi park near national school.
Former chief minister Hemant Soren had laid the foundation for the Khadi Park in 2014, but no progress was made in the last two years.
The state Khadi and gramodyog board proposes to impart training to people in different aspects of the Khadi industry, ranging from reeling and weaving to cloth production through the Khadi Park.
The duration for the training course in Khadi is six months, during which trainees will be given a stipend apart from arranging capital and market for products made by their units.
The board also proposes for people to use national flags made of the Khadi throughout the state, on this Independence Day. These Khadi made flags will be available in proper sizes and fitted with ropes.
A special drive for popularizing Khadi was on the anvil with modern outlets of products of Khadi board being opened in different towns of the state including Dumka, Hazaribag and Jhumaritilaiya
