Double digit digital sales increase for Urban Outfitters, Inc.

Over the past 11 months, the company opened 17 new retail locations, including: five Urban Outfitters stores, five Free People stores, four Anthropologie Group stores and three Food and Beverage restaurants. Additionally, four franchisee-owned Urban Outfitters stores were opened. Store closings in that period included four retail locations: two Anthropologie Group stores; one Urban Outfitters store; and one Free People store.

Store closings in that period included four retail locations: two Anthropologie Group stores; one Urban Outfitters store; and one Free People store.

By brand, comparable retail segment net sales increased 6% at Urban Outfitters and 4% at the Anthropologie Group. Wholesale segment net sales were up 3%.

URBN also reported year-to-date results for the past 11 months, ended Dec. 31. These included: a 10.0% net sales increase; a 9% comparable retail segment gain, “driven by strong, double-digit growth in the digital channel and positive retail store sales,” the company said; and a 10% wholesale segment net sales increase.

Negative retail store sales did little to hinder Urban Outfitters, Inc.’s holiday period, which instead reveled in double-digit digital sales increases. The company, which operates the Anthropologie, BHLDN, Free People, Terrain and Urban Outfitters brands, reported an overall 5.0% net sales increase during November and December combined, and a 5% gain in comparable retail segment net sales.
