Dortex expands the usage of sustainable materials across its portfolio

Dortex, a family-owned textile label manufacturer located in Dortmund, Germany, is expanding its usage of sustainable materials throughout its whole line.

When it comes to designing sustainable new clothes, small details like labels are sometimes ignored, yet Dortex cotton laundry labels are composed of pure, undyed organic cotton.

According to the firm, short-fiber organic cotton is rare as a base for textile labels since the technical criteria for woven labels are quite high, and only long-fiber cotton is generally utilized. For the single (black) labels, which are available in quantities as low as 20 pieces, a printing method is used to circumvent this obstacle.

For some time, high-quality recycled polyester yarns have been an established component in the production of Dortex labels, first in warp threads for the Flexinera product line, but now also in Dortex Color printed fabric care labels and Satinera satin ribbons, which feature radiant, bright colors and are made entirely of rPET.

These labels are lightfast, abrasion-resistant, machine washable at 60°C, and extremely long-lasting. Customers may configure them with as many colors and color gradients as they like.

To avoid protracted shipping and decision-making processes, all Dortex labels are manufactured in Germany. For example, the cotton care labels are produced in Dresden, the company’s second manufacturing location.
