Global circular denim initiative Denim Deal has launched the Denim Deal Innovation Hub, a collaborative platform designed to accelerate the adoption of breakthrough technologies that support circular denim production and help scale the use of post-consumer recycled cotton across the apparel industry.
Among the first innovators to join the platform is Colourized, a UK-based company that has developed QuantumCOLOUR, a patented yarn coloration technology that applies color directly to fiber surfaces using precision robotics. The process significantly reduces water consumption while eliminating wastewater discharge during coloration.
Also participating is Infinity Blue, which has developed a natural extraction process to recover synthetic indigo pigment from discarded denim. The recovered pigment can be reused in new dyeing applications, supporting material circularity while reducing dependence on virgin dye production.
Green chemistry startup Sudoc has joined the hub with denim finishing technologies that enable faster shading, lower processing temperatures, and precision bleaching without the use of potassium permanganate, a chemical commonly associated with environmental and worker safety concerns.
Completing the initial group of innovators is Thirty2, a biotechnology company developing a 100 percent bio-based alternative to conventional indigo dye, offering the potential to reduce the environmental footprint of denim coloration through renewable biological feedstocks.
According to Denim Deal, these pioneering companies demonstrate the Innovation Hub’s core objective of helping emerging technologies move beyond proof of concept toward commercial-scale implementation within the global denim supply chain.
By connecting innovative chemistry, dyeing, biotechnology, and recycling solutions with established supply chain partners, Denim Deal aims to accelerate the transition toward a more circular, resource-efficient, and low-impact denim industry.
