Deckers announces science-based targets to reduce its emissions

Deckers Brands, the parent company of Ugg and Hoka, has announced a number of science-based targets to establish a path to reduce its emissions and released its Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report, Creating Change for the Fiscal Year 2021.

Deckers planned to continue its environmental efforts in the fiscal year 2021 by beginning to track the carbon footprint of its entire chain. The group computed a scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions baseline with The Carbon Trust, allowing it to establish severe greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets.

Deckers has filed a report with the Science-Based Targets (SBTi) organization, stating that the company plans to cut absolute GHG emissions by 46% by the fiscal year 2030. It plans to lower scope three GHG emissions by 58% per million dollars of gross profit in the same year.

Furthermore, the multi-brand company has produced its Fiscal Year 2021 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report, titled Creating Change, which outlines the company’s goals and accomplishments in terms of environmental and social improvements across the board. The goals apply to the company’s whole brand portfolio, supply chain, and worldwide communities.

The report covers the company’s development in areas such as materials, waste, water, consumer safety, human rights, and high-quality education.

Thomas Garcia, chief administrative officer, said that while they have made enormous efforts in their environmental journey, as indicated by their science-based targets, their social effect has also been tremendous. They are happy to continue doing good for their communities, the factories where they work, and the planet on which they live in a year marked by so much global uncertainty.

Dave Powers, CEO and President of Deckers Brands, said that he is proud of their ambitious commitment to lowering the environmental footprint by setting science-based targets. The positive environmental, social, and governance impacts they are making are highlighted in their Creating Change report, which is made possible by the collective passion and commitment of their dedicated employees who live by their value of doing good and doing great.
