Decathlon, Rheon Labs to bring high-tech sportswear

Global sports retailer Decathlon has announced a partnership with British materials science company Rheon Labs to bring advanced material technology into mainstream sports apparel.

The first product from this collaboration will be the Kiprun running tight, expected to launch in autumn/winter 2025. This innovative garment is designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce unnecessary muscle movement during running.

Through this partnership, Decathlon will gain access to Rheon Labs’ full materials technology platform, including both existing and upcoming advancements. These smart materials respond to strain, helping to enhance comfort, support, and performance during physical activity.

The goal is to create sportswear that meets the high demands of athletes while still being affordable and accessible to the wider public.

“Innovation truly matters when it empowers everyone,” said Aurelien Corbier, Decathlon’s textile innovation leader. “By partnering with Rheon Labs, we’re making athlete-grade materials available to everyone—improving comfort, control, and performance.”

“Decathlon’s vision of making innovation accessible aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Stephen Bates, CEO of Rheon Labs. “Our technology, which began in elite sports, will now benefit millions of everyday athletes.”
