Circulose x CTA
Circulose has entered into an agreement with China Textile Academy Green Fibre (CTA) to commercially scale the production of lyocell fibers made from Circulose pulp. Under this agreement, the companies will supply brand partners with lyocell fibers in both standard and non-fibrillating forms, all made using Circulose pulp.
The lyocell process uses a system where the solvent is largely recovered and reused, helping reduce environmental impact. When recycled pulp is used instead of virgin wood, the environmental benefits are further increased.
Circulose and CTA plan to build on this advantage by using pulp derived from recycled textiles. As part of the agreement, CTA has committed to purchasing a fixed volume of Circulose pulp over the coming years and will commercialise the fibres through Circulose’s licensing model.
Jonatan Janmark stated that lyocell production is more complex than viscose, making the use of recycled pulp more challenging. He added that CTA’s ability to produce lyocell from Circulose pulp reflects both strong technical expertise and the quality of the material, and he expressed optimism about expanding the use of circular fibres.
