Circulose becomes first official partner of Copenhagen Fashion Week

Circulose®, a new recycled material for fashion, has officially collaborated with Copenhagen Fashion Week. The collaboration brings together two Nordic fashion industry leaders to speed the transition to a worldwide circular economy for fashion, based on shared principles of innovation and circularity.

The collaboration supports Copenhagen Fashion Week’s aim of creating a worldwide platform for ethical fashion, as well as Circuloseambition ®’s of changing the fabric of fashion from the inside out. The first will take place during the SS23 edition, which will take place in Copenhagen from August 9 to 12, 2022, and will bring together internationally known press, buyers, and worldwide creative leaders for exhibits, trade fairs, lectures, activations, presentations, and events. The collaboration is long-term, spanning five seasons beginning with SS23.

Copenhagen Fashion Week, the world’s fifth-most influential fashion week, has received international acclaim for representing leading Nordic fashion and driving sustainability efforts as the first fashion organization to create mandatory sustainability standards for official program participants beginning in 2023. With these bold steps, Copenhagen Fashion Week is likely to draw a larger international presence than ever before.

Copenhagen Fashion Week is investing in young Nordic talent by introducing its inaugural Talent Support Scheme in August 2022, which will include an ambitious mentorship and support program for designers, as well as a dedicated Talent showroom as part of CPHFW Spring / Summer editions.

Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO Copenhagen Fashion Week, said that with the announcement of this initiative, they’re happy to offer the CPHFW NEWTALENT assistance program as a formalized framework for how Copenhagen Fashion Week invests in the next generation of extraordinary talent. CPHFW NEWTALENT will continue to develop its commitment to responsibility by delivering a support scheme that will introduce our global audience to three Nordic visionaries and give an all-encompassing program to help them establish their brand on an international scale. They’re able to make this commitment a reality thanks to the important relationship of Circulose® as the overarching official partner of CPHFW NEWTALENT, uniting with a comprehensive partner whose values seem precisely identical to their own.

Circulose® presents a unique and ambitious solution to make fashion circular, in light of Copenhagen Fashion Week’s internationally influential objectives. Circulose® is a natural substance created by dissolving waste cotton fibers such as old jeans. Circulose®, a groundbreaking technology driven by 100 percent renewable energy, converts waste textiles into a new substance that requires no cotton farms, oil, or forests. Circuloseprimary ®’s benefit for designers and fashion creatives is that it eliminates the need to sacrifice style or quality for the purpose of circularity. Circulose® is therefore completely at home during Copenhagen Creative Week, which has a distinguished reputation for nurturing extraordinary fashion talent.

Patrik Lundström, CEO of Renewcell, the Swedish innovator behind Circulose®, said that to make fashion circular, they need to collaborate with industry leaders like Copenhagen Fashion Week to get Circulose® into the hands of designers, businesses, and creatives from all over the world. Circulose® transforms fashion from within by removing traditional limits of textile-to-textile recycled materials without losing quality or style, therefore collaborating with a globally prominent fashion week is only logical. They appreciate CPHFW’s leadership in fostering circularity and cultivating top talent, and they look forward to working with them to help the next shapers of style in the coming years.
