Circularity service propounded by brand Rebecca Taylor

Womenswear brand Rebecca Taylor has introduced a new circularity service in which customers can trade in lightly worn garments which can then be repaired, cleaned, and resold.

The company’s ‘ReCollect’ programme aims to repurpose pre-loved Rebecca Taylor garments that might otherwise join the estimated 10 million tons of unwanted clothing that ends up in landfill in the US alone each year.

Rebecca Taylor says ReCollect offers an opportunity to extend the lifecycle of its “timeless, quality, and enduring pieces” while reducing waste and encouraging responsible consumption.

Customers can trade-in their gently worn Rebecca Taylor clothing for a US$15 credit per item that can be redeemed in all Rebecca Taylor boutiques and on their e-commerce site.

Rebecca Taylor brand president Janice Sullivan said: “As a brand we are enthusiastic about engaging our customers in new ways, we were one of the first brands to launch an in-house rental programme.

“ReCollect, not only allows us to connect with our consumer in a new way but will also provide an opportunity for both our customer and our brand to participate in the circular economy.

“These new platforms – both rental and resale – open up new ways to interact with the brand for our customer and enables us to acquire new customers.

“It will also give brand fans an opportunity to check out items they may have missed out on, hunt for their favorite vintage pieces and be able to shop for good product at resale prices.”

Returned items are sorted to determine if they can be repaired, cleaned, and resold. Items not up for resale standards will be sent to HELPSY’s recycled and upcycled programmes.

Slightly worn and vintage pieces suitable for resale will be resold on Rebecca Taylor’s website under the ReCollect platform.
