H&M-owned fashion brand Cos has partnered up with The Renewal Workshop to wash and repair damaged garments which are then put back on sale with a 30 per cent discount.
Entitled ‘Cos Restore’, the circular economy collection is available in selected stores including outlets in Berlin, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Utrecht, New York and Los Angeles.
“Giving new life to damaged pieces, lowering environmental impact,” says a Cos statement on the brand’s official website.
Based in Oregon, The Renewal Workshop specialises in washing, repairing and redistributing returned garments. H&M began working with the company last year as a trial.
The Renewal Workshop expanded into Europe, with a new base in Amsterdam, last year on the back of a $US5.5 million financing round. The company bills itself as the leading provider of circular solutions for apparel and textile brands.
It also works with brands such as Carhartt, Eagle Creek, Mara Hoffman, Pearl Izumi and Toad & Co. Normally it collects, washes and repairs unsellable merchandise and then sells it direct to consumers.
Cos is one of the largest chains of the H&M group. Launched in 2007, the company has 270 stores in 41 countries and is present online in 21 markets.
