Carnegie introduces innovative upholstery fabric

Carnegie, a leader in sustainable textiles and acoustical solutions for commercial spaces, has unveiled Siltech Plus as part of its An Ode to Textiles collection. This new release marks a significant milestone as the first high-performance coated upholstery fabric available in a bio-based version.

Siltech Plus features polyurethane-coated upholstery made with corn starch, offering a balance of sustainability and durability. Designed for long-lasting performance, it is resistant to stains, bleach-cleanable, highly durable, and hydrolysis-resistant. The fabric also comes with a 10-year warranty.

“Siltech Plus draws inspiration from the timeless elegance of vintage design, blending soft textures with a calming color palette,” said Mary Holt, Chief Design Strategist at Carnegie. “Its bio-based composition provides a sustainable alternative that significantly reduces the carbon footprint compared to traditional vinyl (PVC) upholstery.”

All fabrics in the An Ode to Textiles collection are PVC-free, PFAS-free, and free from harmful chemicals. Each product includes a comprehensive Health Product Declaration (HPD), reinforcing Carnegie’s commitment to responsible innovation, sustainable materials, and eco-conscious design.
