Boohoo Group
UK-based online fashion retailer, Boohoo Group is inviting its customers to a “meet the makers” day, where they may get a firsthand glimpse behind the scenes of its suppliers.
Following media accusations, last year of underpayment of workers in several factories in Leicester, the etail company, has been consolidating its supplier base.
The Manchester-based fashion conglomerate, which owns a slew of brands including Boohoo, PrettyLittleThing, Oasis, Warehouse, Dorothy Perkins, and Wallis, has been consolidating its supply base over the last year, following media accusations last year of underpayment of workers in several factories in Leicester.
Despite the issue surrounding Leicester, which has lately reappeared with new allegations of underpayment, Boohoo has stated that it would continue to promote British manufacturing. It now wants its consumers to see the fabric weavers and printers, as well as the pattern cutters and machinists who create their garments.
John Lyttle, CEO of the Boohoo Group, said that they’re dedicated to openness, and this effort is another example of that commitment. They’re pleased with the work they’ve done in the UK, and they’d want the chance to show it off. Customers can trust their operations and the way they engage with suppliers to bring about positive change as they seek to establish a robust manufacturing base in Leicester that provides excellent jobs and bright futures for the city and its residents. He would want to personally invite their consumers to be a part of this chance to meet their makers up close and personal.
