Birla Cellulose introduces innovative excel fiber

Birla Cellulose, a leader in sustainable textile solutions, is transforming the perception of Open End (OE) yarn by introducing its groundbreaking Excel fibre (lyocell), challenging the common belief that OE yarn is only suited for low-end uses like cotton waste.

By blending OE yarn’s structure with Excel fibre, which offers superior strength and whiteness, Birla Cellulose provides an innovative solution that enhances waste utilization while reducing reliance on virgin cotton. This breakthrough has opened new possibilities for OE yarn in premium applications such as home textiles and denim.

Excel fibre stands out as the perfect partner for mechanically recycled cotton. Its uniform length, denier, whiteness, and high strength effectively compensate for the challenges of using recycled fibres in yarn manufacturing.

Spinning mills across India are now incorporating Birla Excel in blends with recycled cotton and soft wastes, offering OE recycled yarn in count ranges from 6s to 34s. These yarns are used in various applications, including denim, bed linen, shirting, towels, dress materials, and knits.

With its dedicated technical service team and the Textile Research Application and Development Centre (TRADC), Birla Cellulose supports spinning mills by improving OE yarn productivity and quality. The company’s pan-India business development team further assists in securing orders and promoting Excel-based products across the value chain.
