Sustainability
Birla Cellulose, the leading pulp and fiber division of the Aditya Birla Group, continues to push the boundaries of sustainable fashion with the introduction of three groundbreaking innovations—Intellicolor, EcoSoft, and SaFR. These innovations aim to blend style and environmental responsibility, contributing to a sustainable future.
The company launched Birla Viscose Intellicolor, an eco-friendly dyeing solution that eliminates the use of salt. The Intellicolor system utilizes cationic dyes with a dye exhaustion rate exceeding 95%, achieving vibrant colors with lower dye concentrations. This process reduces chemical and utility consumption, shortens processing times, and decreases dye use by 25-50%.
Birla Viscose EcoSoft, made from sustainably sourced bamboo, is a luxurious, FSC-certified fiber. Known for its breathability and moisture management, EcoSoft offers exceptional comfort. The fabric’s velvety drape exudes luxury and elegance, making it a popular choice in fashion. Each EcoSoft fiber also comes with a molecular tracer, ensuring authenticity and reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparency.
Birla SaFR is a phosphate-based flame-retardant fiber designed for the technical textile industry. It provides protection in high-risk environments, such as defense and emergency services, without compromising comfort. With its superior flame resistance and shorter char lengths, SaFR can be blended with other high-performance fibers to create protective clothing solutions. This innovation is the first flame-retardant fiber developed in India for the technical textile segment.
