Big Agnes, Hyosung launch backpacks made from recycled fishing nets

Big Agnes, a well-known and award-winning outdoor gear brand based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has teamed up with Hyosung to create its new line of Sweetwater UL (ultralight) backpacks.

These lightweight backpacks are crafted using Hyosung’s high-strength regen Ocean Robic Nylon, which is GRS-certified and made entirely from recycled fishing nets. This eco-friendly material offers the same toughness and durability as regular nylon but has a significantly smaller environmental impact, with a 56% lower carbon footprint.

“We were lucky to work with Big Agnes for the launch of its first backpack line in 2021, during the brand’s 20th anniversary,” said Laura Nilo, marketing manager for Hyosung USA. “We are excited to partner again with this well-respected mountain gear brand and its talented team to bring the Sweetwater UL packs to life.”
