Bally Ribbon Mills uses DuPont’s Kevlar EXO for parachute applications

Bally Ribbon Mills (BRM), headquartered in Pennsylvania, is developing a new range of woven tapes and webbings using DuPont’s Kevlar EXO for parachute applications. The company is currently evaluating the material as a potential solution for lightweight and high-strength parachute systems.

Kevlar EXO is designed to offer improved performance compared to materials such as Kevlar 29 and Vectran. It also delivers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than traditional PBO materials while remaining cost-effective. Due to these qualities, the fibre is being considered for applications where both strength and dependability are essential.

BRM’s parachute webbings are designed with low pack volume, high energy absorption and strong resistance to abrasion, making them suitable for challenging operating conditions. These materials play an important role in parachute canopy reinforcement, harnesses and risers, helping to ensure safety and dependable performance during airborne operations.
